[PD-dev] not quite vexing

hi all,

as I have spent all day cleaning and backing up the stuff before
going for a longer break, I thought I would try to release an
experimental, stripped-down version of the ever-vapory `vexing'
library.  It is called just 'vex', and is somewhat explained at

Feel free to use any part of it in any form and in any way.
