Seems that the structure that is best accepted by the developers is to
have a subdirectory for each developer. If you want your externals to
be compiled by the general build system in the "build" subdirectory you
just have to make a "link" in build/src (look at one of the examples
in build/src how this is done, in general it is just a "include"
statement).
