thomas:
porting your simd replacements to gcc, i found a different behavivour
for the /~ functions.
pd's division first tests for divisions by 0, the simd extension
don't...

i'm not completely sure, if the test is necessary, since it's demanding
recources, but i'd like to hear your opinion and the opinion of
others...
