thomas ... sig_tilde_perf_sse_gcc () is a direct port of the _sse_vs()
function you wrote ...
bart is working on an athlon-tbird, so i suppose it doesn't support sse
instructions ...
probably there is any preprocesser macro that can be used to set by
checking for the DONTUSESIMD ... on linux, this could also be set by
adding something to the autoconf script ... i'm not sure about msvc ...
