And while you are at it, it would be cool to remove the MarkEx objects  
from Gem that are separately in CVS (externals/markex).  This would  
make the [change], [counter], and [average] nameclashes manageable and  
makes sense since the MarkEx objects are general, rather than  
Gem-specific.
