yeah, try the kernel, this is easy at least.

my pd doesn't start in realtime mode by default, still if you think
that might be the problem, pd prints

"memory locking enabled."

in realtime mode. If this is not the case you are safe with that.
The memory locking seems to have been a bit unstable in 2.6, who knows.
