pwersonally i would prefer "w32" instead of "win32", just to get rid of 
the competitive attitude ;-)

true. i noticed very similar problems on my amd64 which is mostly use 
with 64bit linux but sometimes with the 32bit version of the same os.
obviously i have xxx.pd_linux which cannot be opened by the 
"architecture" i am currently working on so i have to recompile.
