[PD-dev] pd/src/obj files in devel?

...I just noticed that my pd-devel pd/obj file is over 75MB's:  it's  
full of directories named 0 to F, each containing at least 100 files  
named with seeming random strings of letters and numbers, and the  
files go back at least a year...

...where/why are these being generated (scons?), and how can I get  
rid of 'em?  I doubt I need that much object coverage...
