[PD-dev] Debugging pd objects

Hello all,

Davide Morelli and myself are working on a Flext object for the Frank  
framework in externals.

Right now, we're getting strange segmentation faults in Linux and  
just plain crashes in OSX. GDB reports nothing useful. GDB with  
GuardMalloc in OSX appears to be way to high on its use of virtual  
memory to actually run.

Any thoughts/ideas/best practices out there on debugging tools? (I  
realise we should be using Valgrind for LInux, but it isn't there as  
a port for OSX).

In particular, we would love to hear from people who are debugging  
memory allocation problems with pd objects (what are you using?),  
people who are having glibc problems, and developers using Flext on  
debugging tools in general.
