Yes I know - but I need it to get quite some examples working for the 
linux audio conference ...

I did not look into is so deep - is it possible to make patches with 
iemmatrix, which we can use instead of iem_matrix ?
(then we could put them in the iemmatrix/alias folder to keep the 
backward compatibility ...)
