I was thinking that that it would be quite handy to have an addition  
callback in the GUI API.  Basically, it would be a function that is  
called whenever editmode changes.  This would allow objects to do  
things like only draw their inlets and outlets when edit mode is on,  
or be able to change the background color in edit mode.

Any thoughts, comments, flames, etc?
