Initial Comment:
On Mac OS X using Pd 0.40.3-extended-20080529, this patch causes crashes. I don't have time to debug it right now, but I'll check it out soon.

I would appreciate any confirmations of the crash.

This seems to be fixed now in 0.40.3-extended-20080614, I am guessing the
crash was related to the hexloader logic that IOhannes recently fixed.
