Summary: get changes from and query canvas

Initial Comment:
1) It might be helpful if you could receive changes to a canvas that are made by mouse clicks or keyboard shortcuts, similar to the way [r pd] works.  Currently, changes to a canvas state can only be received if you send a message like [; pd-some-patch vis 0], but not if you hide some-patch with a mouse click, or if you use <ctrl>-e to toggle editmode.

2) Maybe it could also be possible to send a "get" message to the canvas to find out the current state:
[; pd-some-patch get editmode( would send the message "editmode 1" to some-patch if editmode is on.
