Pd version 0.40.3-extended-20080902
Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron
does not crash Pd version 0.40.2 on Feisty, nor Pd version 0.41.4 on Ubuntu Hardy.

I can confirm this on Ubutnu Hardy 8.04 using Pd 0.40.3-ubuntu-hardy.
