thanks, it's a start.

i still have one question:
 afaics, you are using rsync to obtain a local copy of the repository
(database), and then use svn to checkout a working directory from
sourceforge (not from your local copy)..

are these just leftovers from earlier attempts of optimization or am i
missing something?
