[PD-dev] GridFlow/pwc driver urgent help!

hey,
I really need to install the pwc driver to get my webcam running for
gridflow motion_detect.pd program. I tried to follow this :

but i dont know how to patch a file in linux. Where do i get the source for
linux 2.6.24-23-generic ?? Also i got the header for the same using sudo apt
but dont know where to find them. are header and source files the same??

Any help is appreciated. I'm new to linux...
