Strings like ------selectable_dimensions(pix):------ are from the iemgui
properties panels. For example, all of the GUI elements on the Put menu. 
Just get Properties on any of them, and you'll see that text.

be translated literally? or is that a procedure name?

I forgot to mention there is a new template.pot.  You might want to merge
it into your pt_br.po file, the PO editor programs should do it for you. 
There is a fair amount of new text that can be translated.
