[PD-dev] how to mark the end of loading a file

Hey all,

I'm trying to figure out the best solution to the problem on Mac OS X
where when you open up a patch, the key commands don't work until you
switch to the pd window then back.

Basically the root of the problem is that the new busy cursor that is
displayed when Pd is loading a big file needs to have a clear signal
from Pd that is has started and finished loading. Starting is pretty
straightforward, but finished is currently not.

So I'm wondering now what is the best way to have 'pd' signal 'pd-gui'
that it has finished loading the patch. Perhaps the window manager's
"map" message is a good place?

Looking at things from a more basic level, you can come up with a more
direct solution... It may sound small in theory, but it in practice,
it can change entire economies. - Amy Smith
