Initial Comment:
sorry to keep coming up with functions that (i think) need to be exported  from s_stuff.

here are some more slight changes (mainly adding EXTERN to 5 more functions in s_stuff.h)

originally i thought of using the "audio-dialog" and "midi-dialog" messages to pd to set audio/midi properties in the IntegraLive project, but it turns out, that this is rather limited (e.g. we can only set 4 midi in/out devices because of the "midi-dialog" message, whereas the C-code would actually allow  more)

please include for 0.43
