ah no, you got me wrong.
scripts can are often included in the VCS, but only if they are
"original code", and are _not_ generated automatically.
"configure" is such a generated script (it is generated from
configure.ac and some additional m4-macros using "autoconf")


autogen.sh, otoh, is an "original" script (not-generated), hence it is
included in the svn.

no.
the idea is that the VCS includes all the "source" code, and you can
generate everything with the right tools (gcc, autoconf,...)
