on OSX, it creates .d_fat files.
at least that is what i get on jenkins [1]

there's also a mingw branch on my github clone of pd-vanilla [1], that
fixes a number of build issues on mingw, e.g. linking with g++ when
building asio. (though, iirc, it still doesn't produce dlls for the
externals)
