midi on linux laptops

Hello PDers,

  I am thinking of doing the linux + laptop thing,
there seems to be sound in the laptop as standard
(is this standard line in and line out?) but i have
only found one reference to midi on a laptop, on
the HP Omnibook 5000.

Does anyone have any experience with linux laptops
and midi? Would be good to hear some details.
