how to play a sound file

How does one load a soundfile into pd and play it back?  If someone could 
send me an example patch or just explain how to do it with the objects 
available in pd, I'd be very appreciative.  

I would also like to know if there's an archive for this list that I can read 
through so I can avoid asking questions that have already been asked.
