yes. maybe reset phasor to 0 could update freq ..
then you wouldn't always have to wait for phase.

this is .pd that i use to do this by scalar.
it uses pitch (dx) and scale (x) for phasor freq, so phases from 0..x but
only changes slope when you change dx.
