video input for Gem in linux

Immediately bought a Hauppauge card ....
Tried .. and it worked .. great .. even on the Alpha ...
(xawtv didn't give me any output there)
except I had to hardcode my PAL system ...
   

I'm attaching a pix_video with message "norm pal|ntsc"
