MIDI input on SBLive under Linux

Hi all,

just in case this saves anyone else the trouble I just went through:
The SBLive OSS driver doesn't support select() on MIDI input which is
how Pd polls for inciming MIDI; so incoming MIDI doesn't work with
SBLive under OSS.  The workaround is to use ALSA (which, for some reason,
now appears to work better than it did last time i tried it!)
