midi system real time?

Can pd transmit midi system real time messages i.e. start/stop/continue)
to another connected device, such as a drum machine?  I haven't seen an
object in pd that seems appropriate.  If I know the midi byte-code
number of these messages, is there an object I can use to have them
sent? In other words, manually send the staus byte for 'start' -
'11111010'?
