as a matter of fact, i do have tried "a" patch 1 of 0.33.
and i looked at the code and there was no sign of what you mentioned
above (and what is exactly, what i was looking for)

but as i have seen right now, there exist 2(!) patch-1 versions of pd :
pd-033P1-linux.tar.gz (which is, what i am (was) using)
pd-033PATCH1-linux.tar.gz (which might be, what you are using)

i haven't realized this until now, but of course i will upgrade from
Patch-1 to PATCH-1.
