[PD] readsf~ keeps looping on last buffer (?)

I'm using not the just released version of PD, but the one before, on
Linux.
(Incidently, when it starts up, I don't see any mention of which version
is running).

When using readsf~ to play back a file that was created with writesf~, I
find that the file plays, but then keeps looping a segment at the end.
No bang is ever sent to the third outlet.

Has anyone used this object?
