Yep, Pd 033 "patch 2" should work with either flavor of ALSA.  If you get
the ".tar.gz" version, do ./configure -help in the source directory.

I'm running 0.9 at the moment myself.

Sounds like I'd better look into 0.34 performance... I must be doing
something very wrong...!
