[PD] newbie pdq_estions

hi

just installed pd on windoze today - please excuse newbie questions:

is there such a thing as a standalone in pd?
is there an object comparable to zl rev in MAX/MSP and other objects 
for list processing?
is there a way to load text files in the search path by name and 
dispose them from memory?
is there an equivalent of spell and itoa?
is there an external that accesses Microsoft's sapi speech synthesis machine?
