[PD] Motu 828 audio in problem

Hi newbie warning! Can anybody throw any light on this? Using Win 98 se and 
all is well except that audio in  sounds like its shifted down an octave (or 
Two). Kind of sounds like its running at the wrong bit depth but I'm guessing 

wildly here. Audio out is fine. I.ve tried different buffer sizes no luck. 
Does PD detect 24 bit automatically or must I tell it somehow. All assistance 

gratefully accepted. Dave B....
