[PD] /dev/dsp* trouble with Debian 2.2rev6 on PPC

Hello. Does anyone have experience with running Debian 2.2rev6 on a New 
World G4 with pd? My "out of the box" installation won't allow me to write 
to my /dev/dsp* devices. chmoding 777 does nothing, superuser status does 
nothing.

This is not just with pd, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks.
