both ggee' s (0.22) and j.sarlo's joystick object are up and running with my (cheap) dexxa usb joystick. succesfully using j.sarlos's although it behaves different on win and linux.. (or did I mix up anything?)

btw:

is there any possiability to check (within pd) wich operating system you are running on?
