[PD] Alsa/OSS, pd and RME don't like each other

Are you sure that you have the very same alsa installed ?
Recent ALSA snapshots are known to have broken OSS emulation.

(and it surely is a bug in the driver, because there should be no
way how a application with normal user privileges can freeze a machine,
