[PD] [GEM] particle lib problems

been there, done that, even rm -rf Gem* gem-* and unpacking again, 
making clean again after configure, changing auxlibs makefiles to 
explicitly use g..-2.95 or 3.2, still no success, anyway the box
is about 10h train ride away from me now, I'll look at it again
(and maybe gem cvs version)  in 10days or so.
