[PD] newbie linux compile trouble (again)

I read:

in debian there are usually blabla.deb packages for the blabla lib or app or
whatever and a blabla-dev.deb package for the development headers, no need
to install the whole source (and probably in the wrong place where ./configure
might not find the #include files anyway)
