[PD] spigot for GEM?

I am looking for equivalents for [spigot] for GEM.  Or maybe there is a
better way to do what I want to do.  I want to capture images from
[pix_video] and store them in sequence, then trigger the playback of these
frames with a proximity sensor through the serial port.
