[PD] changing blocksize

hi
for some experiments with fast fourier transformation it would be nice to
work with a bigger blocksize than 64 samples. but my pd computes
audio only with a blocksize of 64samples (my pd runs under w98), even i
try a blocksize smaller than 64 samples. 
from what are the allowed blocksizes dependent? what should be the
biggest and the smallest possible blocksize? what means the second
argument for the object [block~]?
