[PD] url external

Guenter Geiger wrote a "shell" external for his ggee library that i 
think might be useful. perhaps you could interface it with a wget 
command and retrieve the data that way?

a related note: i've only seen this external on linux. does anyone know 
if [shell] compiles on OSX?
