[PD] soundfile length?

hi list
i'm a newbie
i've been trying to play soundfiles using arrays, but looks like i'm missing 
something because i can not load big soundfiles. if i do, it only plays back 
a certain amount of it. i am used to max/msp, where sfplay~ can play back 
any sf, no matter how big. is it something with arguments or just not 
do-able?
