Along those lines, you can use the osascript command to send applescript
events to DVD Player. It's a powerful way of controlling the applications
you know and love. Insert a disc and get it playing. Enter the following
at the command line:
osascript -e 'tell application "DVD Player" \
pause dvd \
end tell'
(The backslashes are followed immediately by Return. The shell will give
you a prompt for the second and third lines of the command.)
Its application to pd should be fairly obvious from there...
