[PD] sending a bang using netsend

sorry if this sounds stupid but Im able to send numbers over a network using

the number -> send $1 -> netsend

but I cant seem to able to send a bang, what Ive tried is
the bang(the black circle) -> send  -> netsend
but nothings happening, not even an error 
Its not being received on the other end at all

Is there a specific thing Ive to write in the send message to get it going
any help really appreciated, its jsut Im fairly new to all this
