I use the shite internal soundcard and turn the latency to about 92ms, 
and I don't use realtime capabilities for jack or pd.  :)  It actually 
runs with fewer overruns/underruns/whatever than my desktop configured 
in a similar fashion, but I haven't compared again since I switched the 
desktop to 2.6.3
