[PD] re: remembering the search paths...?

hi there:

thanks for your help, but i am still at bit at lost. here is what i got.
please correct me where i am wrong.

1:

put below into a text editor and save it as .pdrc

-path  
/home/sonicvariable/pd-externals/cyclone:/home/sonicvariable/pd-externals/my_pd_externals

-lib zexy:cyclone


2. 

call it from the terminal as '~/.pdrc'
i got 'permission denied' at this point, and am i calling it correct?
