this has to be tested (just to be sure, that the clicks aren't too "loud")

but exactly this kind of application was in my mind when i mentioned 
"dropouts might be no problem for you"

i used hammerfall cards which can be stacked (as mentioned before) via 
an internal sync-cable.
each card offered 26 channels (3*ADAT+1*aes/ebu), but i only wanted to 
use the ADATs, so i called "pd -audiodev 1,2 -channels 24,24" or similar 
(cannot remember exactly; the "-audiodev"-line should be fairly redundant.)
