hi,
exactly for that purpose, but for different kind of data,
you can find :
* for audio signals :
spigot~ from http://ydegoyon.free.fr/software.html
* for pdp video processing :
pdp_spigot from http://ydegoyon.free.fr/pidip.html
for other data, like messages or floats,
the built-in spigot, demux or moses
can do the trick.
