depends, oldworld = PITA
generally on newer macs it's pretty straightforward, there are some
annoyances you'll run into but google #debianppc and the debian ppc
list and archives are your friend. 
I happily run debian only on my tibook since i got it.
the newer ones have some problems like airport extreme - forget it,
nvidia based gfx chipset ? kiss dri goodbye ...
need the tv out ? I didn't manage to get it to work on mine (vga out
is fine though)
