[PD] using a square to change the background color in gem

hello,

I am using a square to make the background white in GEM. But I have a
problem: if its Z is lower than -16, it disappears (that is, if it is
-24, for example). I tried -64, and it disappeared too. This leaves few
space for me use in front of the square.

So, I would like to ask you: is there a better way to change the
background color in GEM? I want to use some 3d text, so I need some
space in Z axis...
