well, this is not very specific; unfortunately i am not using Hans's 
package and i guess he will do updates now and then.
could you have a look at what is said at the console ?

i would highly recommend using gem-0.90; if it is not packaged yet, go 
to http://gem.iem.at and download the binary-zip; this should contain a 
single Gem.dll (and a very short README). then go and search for the 
Gem.dll that is installed on your system, back it up and replace it by 
the new one.

i do understand the @ sign, but what does ~ mean ?
go systemproperties->directX (or similar; don't know)
